Children are a gift from the Lord!

My youngest daughter and I were walking to the pond for a boat ride and to fish. As we walked, this was the dialog:

Me: Sweety, you’ll need to ride in the front of the boat and Daddy will be in the back. You’ll need to sit still up there ok?

Her: But Daddy, I want to ride in the back with you.

Me: Well you can’t because I’ll be in the back with the paddle.

Her: Is that in case I misbehave?

Needless to say, I had to explain to her the difference between a “paddle” and an “oar.” ;-) I couldn’t help but laugh as I thought what she must have been thinking with me walking down the street with that HUGE paddle! ” :-)

NOTE: If this makes you mad, if you are a liberal or a Dr. Spock proponent, or think this is just cruel, buy this book for a better understanding.

  1. On my wifes last out of town trip, she came back with a souvenier for me. It’s a paddle with the words, “The Dadinator” printed on it.

She hung it on our dining room wall next to three pictures. One of of each kid screaming and crying. Best gift ever.

    Good book by the way.

The other day I was reviewing the SS lesson w/ my son…talking about Mary & Joseph going to Bethlehem…I ended up directing the conversation to the reason why Jesus came to earth…I told him I was going to Heaven and that I wanted him and his Sissy to go to Heaven too…to which he responded, “Well Sissy can’t go right now b/c she is at school”…and that concluded our lesson!!!
